During my current mandate (2013-2017) I have been responsible for the Public Safety Portfolio which Includes Public Security, Dispatch and our Emergency Medical Service (EMS) manned by our volunteers who have all received their provincial first responder certificates.

  • The fleet of 3 vehicles equipped with all the latest life saving medical equipment, manned by our volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year responding to approximately 3000 medical emergency calls per year.
  • Our Public Security Division of 11 agents and 2 vans patrol the city 24 hours a day, 365 days a They help direct traffic and enforce city bylaws on the roads, parks and act as the eyes and ears for our police department.
  • The dispatch centre is manned 24 hours daily, 365 days a year and responds and directs all calls pertaining to broken water mains, temporary parking permits, and all emergencies.
